Mr. Kiernan McAlpine

Attorney Kiernan McAlpineKiernan “Kier” McAlpine is a trial lawyer dedicated to helping people who have been injured due to negligence.  Mr. McAlpine is a native Houstonian, and has spent his career fighting for justice and ensuring his clients receive the compensation they deserve.  He enjoys the competition of the courtroom, loves to win, and brings a laser focus on evidence, facts, and cutting-edge advocacy to his clients’ cases.

Mr. McAlpine is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, an achievement earned by only 2% of Texas attorneys. Throughout his career, he has represented thousands of injured clients and served as lead counsel in over forty trials. He has significant experience handling cases involving 18-wheeler crashes, plant explosions, industrial accidents, falls, and motor vehicle accidents, with a focus on traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, wrongful deaths, and fractures. In 2022, he secured a $6,850,000 wrongful death verdict in Beaumont, Texas.  He has served key roles as trial counsel in several cases that settled confidentially for more than ten million dollars.

At Middlebury College, Mr. McAlpine majored in political philosophy and graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with high honors, the pre-law award, and the Jarrett Prize for excellence in political philosophy and American constitutional thought.  He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008.  He has been practicing law in Texas for over fifteen years, and is also licensed in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Alabama, and Georgia.  Mr. McAlpine is licensed in all federal courts in Texas and in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. McAlpine spent his first few years out of law school working on complex matters, including the massive litigation arising out of the Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.  A former defense attorney, he worked in medical malpractice defense early in his career as a trial lawyer, but he quickly realized his passion is representing injured plaintiffs.

Mr. McAlpine views his work not just as a job or a career but as a passion and a calling.  Beyond the courtroom, he has a strong background in legal writing and appellate work, having led many appeals.  He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, highlighting his success in achieving significant case results. Before founding McAlpine Law Firm, he spent over a decade at one of the largest personal injury firms in the country, where he became a partner in less than four years.

Other attorneys frequently seek Mr. McAlpine’s help in solving their most challenging legal cases.  He brings an “immersive” approach to trying cases, leveraging courtroom technology, psychological insights, top experts, incisive research, professional ethics, and integrity to maximize value for clients.  He has built a reputation as a problem-solver, known for stepping in when cases become too complex or overwhelming—and then forging a path to victory.  His ability to think outside the box has led to success in overcoming tough legal obstacles, whether by challenging top defense experts or devising strategies to navigate difficult premises liability and workplace injury cases.  Since 2021, Mr. McAlpine has  served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Clients trust him for his clear, honest communication, candid and ethical advice, and his unwavering commitment to their cases.

At McAlpine Law Firm, the goal is simple—to fight for the injured and deliver results.  Whether at the negotiation table or in the courtroom, Mr. McAlpine will work tirelessly to ensure his clients get the justice they deserve. He is a proud member of the American Association for Justice, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.  Mr. McAlpine cares deeply for his clients, and strives not only for a maximum financial recovery, but to restore a sense of meaning and order to the lives of those who have been harmed by others’ negligence.
